Shopping for Sustainable and Healthy Food

Half the battle of eating with a positive impact, is knowing where to find healthy, reasonably priced, and sustainable options. While there is the perception that eating healthy and/or organic is more expensive, this does not have to be the case. By following a few helpful hints, you can eat healthy, and do so without spending your “whole paycheck.”

Sustainable Shopping Tips
  • Buy fresh foods as opposed to prepackaged processed food.  Yes, this means you will have to prepare (maybe even cook) your own food, and to some this is daunting…which is why we have provided some great resources in our recipe section (just below) to help make this easier. 
  • Commit to preparing your own meals more often. The more you prepare your own food, the less prepackaged food you will eat. Prepackaged food is more expensive, and is chock full of chemicals, and excessive amounts of sugars, salts, and fats…it’s also incredibly wasteful from a packaging and shipping perspective.
